Latte Art

Baristas have now become artists. By pouring the milk and using a small pick tool latte artists create patterns and images using the contrast between the coffee and the foam. It’s impressive the designs that can be created with such limited tools.

The 2007 Science as Art competition showcases some amazing photos of nanotechnology. My favorite of the bunch is the dice shown above. Each die is 200 microns (0.2mm) across. Not quite nano, but impressive nonetheless.
